TEHRAN (FNA)- The Iranian Army Ground Force on Saturday unveiled a tactical vehicle and a sniper rifle, and said the two home-made military products will remarkably increase the army's combat capability.
Commander of the Iranian Army's Ground Force Brigadier General Ahmad Reza Pourdastan unveiled Neinava tactical vehicle and Shaher 14.5mm sniper rifle in a ceremony at the Research and Self-Sufficiency Jihad Organization of the Iranian Army today.
The rifle is capable of targeting and destroying concrete strongholds, armored vehicles and choppers and will increase the depth of the Iranian forces' combat capability.
Neinava is a 2.5ton tactical vehicle which can carry a load of 5 tons and can be used in every tactical condition based on requirements of the ground forces and the country's climate conditions.
On Monday, Iran also unveiled a light armored vehicle and an armored personnel carrier as part of its broader plan for increasing mobility of its armed forces.
The light armored vehicle, Howeize, and Talaeiyeh armored infantry carrier were officially unveiled in a ceremony attended by Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi.
Speaking to reporters, Vahidi said that the newly unveiled vehicles produced by the Defense Industries Organization were a "great step" in increasing mobility and operational movement of the armed forces.
As regards the features of Howeize armored vehicle, Vahidi said that in addition to different military missions, the vehicle can be used at border posts and in anti-narcotic operations.
Earlier this month, the Iranian Armed Forces displayed the country's latest home-made military tools, weapons and equipments in large military parades in Tehran.
During the parades, the Iranian armed forces displayed different weapons and military tools and equipment, including different kinds of fighters, choppers, drones, ground-to-ground missiles, air-to-ground missiles, surface-to-surface missiles, tactical and armed vehicles, surface and underwater vessels, electronic and telecommunication equipment, light and mid-light
weapons, different kinds of artillery and mortar-launchers, air defense systems and engineering and logistic equipment.
The Iranian Armed Forces have recently test-fired different types of newly-developed missiles and torpedoes and tested a large number of home-made weapons, tools and equipments during massive military drills.
Defense analysts and military observers say that Iran's wargames and its advancements in weapons production have proved as a deterrent factor, specially at a time of heightened threats by the US.
