Critical look to the world wide web

Being a student in IT-Forensics gives you a great advantage of knowing the internet and how to use it. But so do cyber criminals. There is not one day that I haven't seen something suspicious on the internet. There is a lott of information free and noone checks if it is right or not.

For example watching full movies online you will need to visit multiple sites before you can watch it. And everyone knows that you can't watch movies for free unless they are published to be so.

But if i type in any search machine the tags:"Reqiuem for a dream full movie" I will get a full list of available links were i can watch the "full" movie.

So i go ahead and I click one of them. Clicking it made me send my ip-adres(external), the website were i came from, the time, howlong I was on the website and the clicks that i have clicked.

A cybercriminal hosting these kinds of websites can take advantage of your information. Because you will try to watch the movie online but you won't be able to, because you will be linked to another website (Keeping you looped) or they will try to sell you an account. 

I don't believe in watching movies online for free.

But here comes the critical part, when you download freeware (open-source or not) you have to be critical from were you download it.

Lets take Filezilla for example. Filezilla is an FTP software that can create an connection to any FTP server. You can download Filezilla from a lott of places. But if you want to be sure that you got an virus free package you will have to download it from it's deliverer. As when you want to download MSN Messenger you should download it only from the Microsoft website.

The reason why you shouldn't download from external sources is because they can't be trusted. Hackers can manipulate the file that it will send information to anyone that they want to.

This can easily be traced with a md5 sum. But then you will be needing the original md5 and you can find it on the source it's website.

So be carefull when you download software from the internet. Hackers (programmers) even know how to put virusses in music, movies and pictures. There is more going on then we know about just look at the Russian Business Network.
