Black & Berg Consulting: Joe Black his Press Release
Black & Berg Cybersecurity Consulting, LLC
Press Release for Friday June, 10th 2011
I really do not enjoy spending my time defending myself and my organization but the media and other individuals in the corrupt and broken Information Security industry leave me no choice. Your attempts at sytematically destroying everything that I have built will fail.
There truly isn't a such thing as the American dream anymore. The most important lesson that we learned from being attacked by Hackers is that Cyberterrorists now have the power to take your most valuable asset, your reputation, and destroy it overnight.
I did the right thing. I invested $100,000 in my education and my small Cybersecurity consulting business. I went to college for four (4) years then spent two (2) years self studying for various Department of Defense (DoD) 8570.01 approved Cybersecurity certifications.
Here is the list: (http://goo.gl/1d8F1)
Bachelor of Applied Science in Information Systems Security
Associate of Applied Science in Computer Network Systems
CISSP
Certified Ethical Hacker
NSA-4011
CISM (I passed the exam and I am a member in good standing of ISACA, I still need 6 months of experience before I'm certified by ISACA.)
Security+
Network+
Project+
Linux+
A+ IT Technician
A+ Remote Support Technician
I'm currently studying for ISACA's CISA exam and I take EC-Council's Security|5 exam next month for the lulz and to determine if it meets certain criteria in training end users.
For the record we never accused or identified the entertaining Hacker collective Lulz Security as those who are responsible for defacing www.blackbergsecurity.us. We don't know where the media, reporters, or professional bloggers are getting their information. We will stick to our original comment which was "It was like we were attacked by ninjas."
To clear up the confusion about my work on my Masters Degree. I have started and stopped work on my Masters degree in Counter-Terrorism from Bellevue University, twice now. The next time I enroll it will be my 3rd time, altough probably not my last. My life goal was to earn an Associates Degree and maybe the CompTIA (www.comptia.org) Network+ certification. As you can see I have far exceeded my own expectations. As for my Masters Degree, well I have my whole life to complete that. I'm not in a hurry.
In truth, I would probably still be enrolled at Bellevue University and be busy plugging away at my Masters Degree, had the CIA not approached me. Once The Agency recruited me as an asset I knew our country had bigger problems that required my undivided attention. We decided that America's only path forward is by using the Megacommunity (http://goo.gl/sKUaM) way of thinking. So it was my responsibility to stimulate a global Megacommunity (http://goo.gl/sKUaM) and leverage these nearly unlimited resources to stop Cybercrime, end the arms race on the Internet, deweaponize Cyberspace, and prevent an armageddon like Cyberwar.
At Black & Berg we believe that we can still get ahead of this thing and prevent a Cyber 9/11 that will kill an unknown number of innocent Americans, but the only way to accomplish this is to make Cybersecurity as common as wearing your seatbelt. We, in the Intelligence Community are witnessing a very dangerous paradigm shift. As the United States military, government agencies, and fortune 500/1000 companies begin to raise their security posture, they are becoming increasingly difficult targets for Hackers, Spies, Cyberterrorists, and the > 100 foreign Intelligence Services. Thus all that negative energy and malicious resources are shifting their attention to the country's 28 million small businesses and various private sector owned critical infrastrucure industries. 95% of the US national critical infrastrucure is owned and operated by the private sector and if we don't leverage the US Cybercommand and the military's resources and begin to provide support to these vulnerable companies there won't be a US economy left to protect. Expecting private companies to rely on their own in house Cybersecurity resources during a Cyberwar is simlar to expecting them to provide their own air defense systems during WWII. Completely unreasonable.
To wrap this up we would like to say this to the Hackers that defaced www.blackbergsecurity.us. We would like to thank you. You just brought much needed attention to the Cybercrime problem that is crippling the US economy. We are going to leave the drunk Planters Peanut, wine drinking, mustache man on the homepage. He seems to add a touch of class and my girlfriend thinks he's cute. Your actions have resulted in Black & Berg being contacted by 100's of White Hat and Black Hat Hackers each day who are interested in helping us raise our national security posture and solve the Cybersecurity issues that are a direct threat to our national defense.
It's true that the FBI owns 1 out of 4 American Hackers, but the CIA, Intelligence Community, and Black & Berg own the rest.

My first certification was a CNE (Certified Novel Engineer) token ring, pdp-11 and sun-sparc- bezerkly unix, my last certification was LNP (Lotus Notes Professional) - I made the big times from an Engineer to a Professional in 35 computer years = 1024 normal years.
Joe I'm glad you will get your Masters one day I'm working on one too right now but it's a hobby for me. I started in hardware in 1971 then switch to software in 1984 then went management and got weird. The piece of paper is OK but read everything and more important shut up and listen.
If you claim your CIA then you ain't. It's a secret, it's the first thing they tell you. If you serious about cyber security take a look at my BLOG: http://CHinaCyberWarfare.wordpress.com
China is the Hot new bad guy of cyber space.
The CyberSecurity business is a rapidly growing field.
Recruitment has been fast and furious since the United States became aware that we have a serious problem on our hands.
In that process, many firms are taking on interns to test the aptitude for those who are well suited for intelligence and counterintelligence work.
As Joe Black knows. This is a field where you need to prove your skills, and the only way to truly test them is in the field. From there, you either sink or swim.
In addition, that recruitment process has been untradtitional calling on experts from all walks of life.
As we all know, extraordinary times call for extraordinary measures. We live in extraordinary times and operate under extraordinary mesures.
Black & Berg CyberSecurity Conulting, LLC is a new firm and failure is not an option.
I think Joe Black is handling the situation with real class responding to directed questions and placing his credetnials out there for the world to see.
Joe Black has surrounded himself with a good team, and that is half the battle. This team will stand by him, until we hear otherwise. Our methods, background and training are diverse and atypical. Our dedication and commitment beyond reproach.
Nobody makes it in this business overnight, but Joe Black has, experienced excellent advisers to support him.
What exactly do we know about Lulzsec other than their desire to wreak havoc on the world wide web and their ability to to launch cyberwarfare on those who "dare" to challenge them?
I always get a chuckle when people make [want] to make the assumption that I attended Columbia Community College as opposed to my "real" alma matter, Columbia University in the City of New York.
If people are desperate to see Ivy League Credentials and a few advanced Masters degrees... just send them my way.
Excellent article, Mr. Black. I can tell you are a highly educated individual and very articulate. I am glad you are looking out for small business owners, such as myself. Look forward to working with you.
Um... A master's degree from Bellevue is like a associates degree from metro. Didn;t you notice that you were smarter then your teachers? For the record - that's not normal in college.
Until ITT returns my calls, i'm not buying a degree that looks like you made it. No Isaca# means no membership.
Also, where is this press release posted?
