Activists from the group Anonymous have struck the German parliament, hacking into its website and accessing secret files, media reports said here Wednesday.
The classified documents have been posted online, divulging details of Germany’s war in Afghanistan.
Anonymous claimed it received the data from a server at the German parliament.
The hackers’ group has in the past assumed responsibility for a number of leaks of confidential data throughout the world.
The military documents were collected for a now concluded critical probe, looking into a September 2009 air raid by US fighter jets under German orders that killed more than 140 Taliban fighters and Afghan civilians.
Omid Nouripour, an opposition Green Party lawmaker who was on the inquiry
committee, told the German Press Agency dpa the documents posted on
the website were authentic.
